Boiling the Pepper
May 11, 2019Bo Tree Kampot Pepper now on Milk Street
June 18, 2019We’re thrilled that Fabulous Food Finds’ Katy Truss, artisan food guru and friend of BoTree, wrote about us in BBC Good Food Magazine. She highlighted BoTree as one of her favourite small producers among the BBC Good Food Shows exhibitors. Did we say we’re excited about this?
Here is what Katy says about BoTree:
“Peter Schaebbicke and brother-in-law Christopher Gow launched BoTree Farm in 2012. After three years of maturation in Cambodia, their Kampot pepper plants were ready for the first harvest.
Steeped in history, the Cambodian Kampot is the champagne of pepper, the only one in the world with PGI status (Protected Geographical Indication). BoTree uses traditional organic farming methods and the picking, washing, and sorting is all done by hand.
They produce black, red and white peppercorns along with ‘white pipali pearls’; the tiny flavourful seeds of the Cambodian long red pepper. Their incredible salted pepper berries are green berries fermented in salt to retain their juiciness while their delicate fleur de sel are ‘blossoms’ of sea salt hand-harvested from crystal-clear salt marshes nearby. More exciting new products are in the pipeline as they evolve their one-stop seasoning shop.”
Her history is not 100% accurate, but never mind! The farm was actually launched by Christopher Gow with his Cambodian wife, Aly! Peter runs the UK & Europe marketing effort.
Bo Tree will be exhibiting at the BBC Good Food Show taking place at Birmingham NEC from 13-16 June – take a look at the lineup here. You can find us at stand SGF19-F320.

Great articles and great layout! I really enjoyed reading about Mushroom Chocolate Bar. The insights you shared about [highlight a key point from the blog] were particularly enlightening. It’s evident that you’ve put a lot of thought into this, and your writing style is both engaging and informative.
